The crucible is picked up with this rig and an overhead crane. I am sure that it takes a lot of practice to hit the sprue hole with this awkward looking set up. Sharon has had plenty though because there were no puddles of aluminum on the floor when the pouring was done.
I had thought that I had photographed the patterns of the parts being cast in this photo but apparently I missed them because when the pictures got back from the developer they were no where to be found.
