Greenfield Village

This Brown and Sharpe turret lathe is used daily by visitors who want to try their hand at running a lathe.  It is set up for manufacturing small candle stick holders and is operated under the supervision of the museum personal on duty.  A turret lathe operates by having many individual tools set up for various cutting operations.  The turret may be rotated presenting different tool to the work piece without having to set up any one tool repeatedly.  A turret lathe is sort of an analog CNC lathe.
