This field piece sits before a mural painted by Jonathan Trumbull, son of the Colonial governor. The mural depicts the surrender of General Bourgoine to General Gates at Saratoga. In the mural you see a cannon. This is the very same cannon in that long ago mural. Not the same type mind you but the very same gun.
