Rivett's 32 Inch Bench Lathe This lathe is especially adapted for fine tool makers, electricians, jewellers, model makers, and all makers of light machinery. The spindles and bushings are made from the very best tool steel, and are accurately ground by special machinery. It has a self-centering or split chuck for holding wire, wheels, etc., and a patent slide rest with milling attachment, which can be easily converted into a milling machine for cutting wheels and cutters (from three inches down), fluting reamers and taps, and making cutters of all angles. The tool holder on the slide rest is an eccentric, which makes it very easy to set the tool to the centre. The quill that goes in slide rest for milling attachment is made to take split chucks same size as the head-stock spindle. Length of bed, 32 inches. Swing, 7 inches. Distance between centres, 18 inches. Hole through spindle, 5/16 inch. Largest hole through spring chuck, 13/32inch. © Tom Martin 2001
