On 15 June 2004 member Rich Koolish sent a notice on our club mailing list that he hard heard from a friend of his that the Massachusetts College of Art Iron Guild would be putting on a demonstration of iron melting and pouring at the Saugus Iron Works National Historic Site in Saugus Massachusetts.
Since that would be Fathers Day I planned a day that included going to Saugus and watching the re-broadcast of the Grand Prix of the United States in the evening.
I arrived at the Iron Works at about 1:15 and soon spotted several of the usual suspects from our group. Dick Boucher and his wife, Rich Koolish, Ed Kingsley and several others were in attendance. Along with about 75 or 100 other folks who were trudging through life as non machinists. How sad for them.
