Welcome to Alaska

Coburn Machine has a variety of mostly manual machinery with some CNC n the mix.  They do primarily repair work for the oil companies. Sort of a "the difficult we do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer" sort of place.

They are a long way from anywhere and have to use imagination and years of experience to do what needs to be done.  I didn't (darn it) take a picture of the posted shop rates.  $120 per hour straight time, $240 overtime.  When you are the only machine shop in town there has to be some advantage.

The owner and his three employees live in quarters in the back of the shop.  There are no women or alcohol allowed in Prudhoe Bay (other than lady tourists) so it is a pretty bare bones existence.
