North of Coldfoot is this black spruce. As the sign indicates it is the northern most spruce on the Dalton Highway. Sadly, and proving once again that the two most abundant elements in the universe are hydrogen and stupidity, someone has girdled the tree and it not likely to survive. Soon it will be time to select another tree as the northern most.
